High Speed Train In the world |China Bullet Train

Chinas bullet train is set to go abroad for the first time as the country plans to export 228 bullet trains to Malaysia to develop intercity transportation for Kuala Lumpur, official media said.

The Beijing Shanghai High Speed Railway a passenger dedicated trunk line opened in June 2011 that reduced the 1,318 km journey between the largest cities in China to less than 5 hours. Trains reach top speeds of 190 mph.The Shanghai Maglev Train an airport rail link service opened in 2004 that travels 30 km (19 mi) in 7 minutes 20 seconds 150 mph and reaching top speed of 268 mph.
Stranded passengers had to be picked up from the eastern city of Changzhou by a back up train delaying their arrival in Shanghai by almost three hours Beijing railway authorities said. It was not clear what caused the malfunction.
Chinainitial high speed trains were imported or built under technology transfer agreements with foreign train makers including Siemens Bombardier and Kawasaki Heavy Industries. However Chinese engineers re designed and further improved the internal components of the train in order for the train to run at much higher speed. China currently holds close to 1,000 local and international patents for high speed rail technology. Foreign train makers continue to sell certain components but no longer supply train sets for China's high speed trains Most of the CRH train components are manufactured by local Chinese suppliers with only a few parts imported.

Sourav Ganguly Celebrates 39th Birthday | Sourav Ganguly happy birthday

Ganguly chit chat in a Tv show about him 39th birthday:

Sourav Ganguly Celebrates 39th Birthday | Sourav Ganguly happy birthday

The prince of Kolkata and Bengal Tiger Sourav Ganguly might have stopped playing international cricket but dada is still a venerated figure in the Indian cricket team.

Gambhir is all set to arrive in Kolkata on July 9 to shoot a celebrity special episode of Ke Hobey Banglar Kotipati.

Sourav considers Gambhir to be a match winner. He is the one to have invited him to the show. I remember when Sourav was dropped from the Indian squad for the third Test against Sri Lanka in December 2005, two people could make it to his hotel room. One was Gambhir the other being Harbhajan Singh. It would be interesting to see the two Team Kolkata captains come face-to-face. Gambhir is the current vice-captain of Team India Sourav was the captain of which. In many ways, this episode is a coming together of the past and the present.

Did Maran on telecom spectrum?

The CBI state that there was an 'element of coercion' in the manner in which Aircel was sold to Maxis.

Several letters exchanged between the PMO and Dayanidhi Maran during his tenure as telecom minister. Union Textiles Minister Maran resigned in connection with the 2G scam case on Thursday.

On January 11, 2006, Maran wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh starting that one major bottleneck in sustainable growth of telecom sector is the availability and non-allocation of spectrum. The GoM should therefore focus its attention on vacation of spectrum by defence and other agencies.

Exactly a day after Maran letter, Maxis which had now bought Aircel, put in four additional applications for some of the most lucrative circles in India and Karnataka & Maharashtra & Mumbai and Rajasthan.

On February 1, 2006 Maran met the prime minister and discussed the need for a GoM and what the terms of reference for the GoM should be.

On February 23, 2006 the prime minister actually approved the constitution of a group of ministers on vacation of spectrum and raising resources for the purpose.

Those notification had six terms of reference but one specifically linked to spectrum pricing which states suggest a spectrum pricing policy and examine the possibility of creation of a spectrum reallocation fund. The notification was issued with the approval of the prime minister.

Maran wrote a letter to the prime minister within five days stating that You had kindly assured me the terms of reference of the GoM would be drawn up exactly the way we wanted which was to focus only on the issue of vacation of spectrum.

Maran letter states I will be grateful if you could kindly instruct the concerned to modify the terms of reference as suggested by us which are enclosed.

On December 7, 2006, the prime minister approved the removal of spectrum pricing from the terms of reference.

Raja ignored Manmohan's advice but did the prime minister allow himself to be bullied by Maran? That question now haunts the UPA.

5000 civilians died during the Eelam war

5000 civilians died during the Eelam war:
The Sri Lankan President’s advisor and M P, Rajeeva Wijesinghe Wednesday 06-07-2011 said the fact that he believed about 5000 civilians died during the last phase of the 4th Eelam war between the LTTE and the Govt armed forces.

Though the Govt had been stubbornly stating that during the war no ordinary citizen was killed , this confession by the MP contradicted Govt.’s announcements. When the BBC media personnel questioned on this contradiction, whether isn’t what you said contradictory to what the Govt. had been repeatedly telling Westinghouse replied the Govt. forces under no circumstances targeted the ordinary citizens when attacking.

He added that at that time he was the chief of the peace secretariat and the figure arrived at was on a personal count by made by him based on the figures reported by the Tamil net compared with the details collected from the security divisions.

In any event so far no decisions had been taken in regard to granting compensation to the 5000 civilians, but as far as
possible immediate action is being taken to put them back in their original places of residence he pointed out.

They refused to allow the High Commission to see this in advance, and indeed did not show anyone the video they had received. They even refused to give it to the Special Rapporteur who was instead shown another version different in some particulars supplied by an outfit called Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka.

WORLD POPULATION DAY 2011 | WORLD POPULATION 11TH JULY

World Population Day 2011: More than 1 billion young people are between the ages of 15 and 24. They need supportive relationships and respect.

The global population increases, so does the number of mouths to feed. Agriculture is emerging as a solution to mitigating climate change, reducing public health problems and costs and making cities more livable and creating jobs in a stagnant global economy.

This year the world’s population will hit 7 billion, according to the United Nations. Reaching this unprecedented level of population density has prompted the U.N. Population Fund (UNFPA) to launch a “7 Billion Actions” campaign to promote individuals and organizations that are using successful new techniques for tackling global development challenges. By sharing these innovations in an open forum, the campaign aims to foster communication and collaboration as our world becomes more populated and increasingly interdependent.

Not even demographers can actually forecast how many people will be added to world population over the coming century, noted Robert Engelman a population expert and World watch Executive Director. As more women and their partners gain access to reproductive health services and manage their own childbearing, average family size has fallen significantly in recent decades and could continue to do so, assuming expanded support for reproductive health and improvements in women’s autonomy and status. The likelihood of continued population growth for some time however remains high. And that will add to the need to harness the ingenuity of human beings to sustain both people and the planet.

Nourishing the Planet’s research in Africa has unveiled innovative and cost-effective approaches to agriculture where farmers are treating land as a resource rather than solely as a means for food production. Many of these solutions are scalable and can be adapted to farming systems around the world.

The Planet recommends four ways that agriculture is helping to address the challenges that a growing global population will bring.

Urban agriculture for nutritious food and a cooler climate. The U.N. predicts that 65 percent of the global population will live in cities by 2050. Urban agriculture provides an increasing number of city residents with fruits and vegetables, leading to improved nutrition and food security. Urban farms are already gaining popularity around the world, from the Victory Programs’ ReVision Urban Farm in Boston, to Lufa Farms in Montreal, to the slums of Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya.

Farming for employment and education. Opportunities in agriculture can reduce poverty and empower a growing population. In Los Angeles county, the organization Farmscape Gardens has helped tackle a 16 percent unemployment rate by hiring workers to establish and maintain edible gardens. To teach the local community about food and agriculture, L.A.’s Fremont High School established a school garden of 1.5 acres that is open to students and the greater community. And in Uganda, project DISC (Developing Innovations in School Cultivation) partnered with Slow Food International to develop 17 school gardens that are used to educate students about growing, harvesting, and preparing nutritious local foods.

Agroecology for a healthier environment. Agroecology, which offers numerous benefits to the environment while also feeding people, includes organic agriculture agroforestry conservation agriculture, and evergreen agriculture. In Niger, farmers promote the re-greening of dried farmland by allowing spontaneous regeneration of woody species. The restored growth has provided farmers with wind breaks, decreased evaporation, sequestered carbon, and provided non-timber forest products. In the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency has partnered with representatives from metropolitan Washington, D.C. to create the Chesapeake Bay Program watershed partnership. Through collaboration, the group has developed policies, laws, incentives and best practices for farmers whose production zone lies within the local watershed. These agroecological practices, including cover crops, planting riparian forest butters, and practicing conservation tillage, have helped preserve the Bay.

Innovations in food waste to make the most of what we have. According to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization, industrialized countries waste 222 million tons of food annually, or almost as much as sub-Saharan Africa’s 230 million tons of net food production per year. Decreasing food waste makes it possible to feed people across the planet without increasing agricultural production. In Washington, D.C., the D.C. Central Kitchen Project partners with area restaurants and food suppliers to pick up food that would otherwise go to waste. Volunteers prepare the food and redistribute it as meals to the city’s poor. In central and eastern Africa, a partnership between Bayer Crop Science and the International Potato Center hopes to develop a sweet potato that is resistant to pests and diseases, which are responsible for 50 to 100 percent of crop losses among poor farmers in the region.
